Homework Assignments
Our second grade class has decided that we would like to focus more on math computation, spelling, and reading. We came up with a little plan that we would like to implement. Instead of our traditional homework, the students want to devote their homework time to reading, math facts, and spelling. Our normal homework will be done in class.
The following are suggestions for studying these subjects. You may try these ideas or be creative and come up with your own. Do anything that works for your child or that he/she seems to enjoy.
Reading: Just read, read, read! Read the 2nd Grade “SRA Decodable Stories” and anything that is of interest to the student for at least 15 minutes.
Math: Study addition facts to 20 using flash cards, flash card apps, computer games, call out and answer verbally, etc.
Spelling: Write sentences with words, practice writing words, spellingcity.com, spelling bees, make up games, etc. Spelling words will be sent home weekly.
After your child completes the assignment in each area, please initial in the appropriate box daily.
